Learning Resource Centre

Library is considered as the real powerhouse of any educational institution. Library is situated in a separate building having 2 floors with an area of 1,306square meter with all modern amenities and facilities. The infrastructure has a centralized library with 300 seating capacity and open access system for users. It has more than 31,745 collections which include books, periodicals, bound volumes, student projects and  book bank books. Library automation refers to the use of computers to automate the typical procedures of library. SDMIT Library is automated with an in-house developed software EERPMS for data entry, information storage, retrieval, circulation, stock verification, OPAC, report generation, bar-coding of books, attendance etc. and is used to improve the quality, speed, accuracy and effectiveness of library service. The academic library conveys its integral role in supporting the core mission of higher education.

  • CD ROM Section - Collection of educational CDs and DVDs are arranged here.

    • Attendance/Checking Counter – Scan the ID cards of the students to measure the usage of the library.

     

    • OPAC Counter – User can search the resources available in the library.

     

    • Issue Counter – Separate counter for issue of books.

     

    • Property Counter – To keep the belongings of the users.

     

    • Digital Access Counter – To access the digital content.

     

    • Return Counter – Separate counter for return of books without entering the library.

    • Reference –Books can be referred in the library.

     

    • Loan Issues –Issue of books for a period of one week.

     

    • Book Bank Issues - Students can get at least three books or more at a time for each semester.

     

    • Overnight Issues -Issue of demanded books only for a night.

     

    • Newspaper clippings-Paper clipping of some important articles in different headings.

     

    • Best reader recognition- A student is recognized as “Best Reader” in every month and annually for theextensive and disciplined use of library.

     

    • Orientation for fresher’s -To create awareness about library collection,facilities and services among the students and to develop optimum utilization of the library.

     

    • New Arrivals display - Display the newly purchased books in a separate table to bring to the notice of the user.

     

    • Book Exhibitions - Book Exhibitions within our own collection on various occasions.

     

    • Book exhibition cum sale- Book exhibition cum sale by different vendors.

     

    From 8.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. on all working days and during the examination time up to 8.00 p.m.

     

     

    • News paper clippings in different subject headings.

    • Best reader(Students & Faculty) recognition in every month and year.

    • Display of monthly library usage index - branch wise and year wise with graphical picture.

    • Display of worthy Answer scripts of all internal tests.
