A Yoga practice was arranged by the College NSS Unit on 21st June during International Yoga Day 2023. Dr. Sinchana, Dr. Kavya, Dr. Hema and Dr. Pranav experts from BNYS Ujire, taught asanas and highlighted the benefits. Mahesh Patil, NSS Officer and Prabhakar, Physical Director coordinated the programme. Staff members and students participated in the session.

On 6th June 2023, the Training & Placement Cell of SDM Institute of Technology, in association with DLithe, conducted a hands-on session on LinkedIn for 6th semester students. Ms. Suma Annegowda, the resource person, provided insights about leveraging LinkedIn's features to enhance visibility to receive attention from potential employers for internships and job opportunities. 

World Environment Day 2023 was observed at SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire on 5th June. The event was organized by the college NSS unit. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Principal, planted saplings of fruit bearing trees Mango, Sapota, Blackjamun at the hostel premises and spoke about the significance of the day. 

The college Netball team won the VTU Rest of Bangalore Zone Tournament and also secured III place in VTU State Level Tournament. The Handball team won II place in VTU Mangalore Zone Tournament. Mr. Subhas of II-year ECE received the Best Shooter Award in Netball Tournament.

The college Annual Day was celebrated on 25th March 2023. The Chief Guest Mr. Girish Nandan, Assistant Commissioner, Puttur, DK felicitated the meritorious students; Rakshitha M.B, VTU V rank holder; faculty Ph.D. awardees and Physical Director Nithin Poojary, Ekalavya awardee.   Dr. Satheeshchandra S, Secretary, SDME Society presided over the programme.The celebrations were followed by grand cultural programmes.

The institute signed an MoU with Medini Technologies Bangalore on 8 Nov 2022. The purpose is to connect Industry and Academia by training and conducting seminars and workshops for the students of Civil Engineering on the latest industrial software through industry experts. 

The institute organised Koti Kanta Gayana - Nanna Naadu Nanna Haadu program on 28th October 2022 on account of 67th Kannada Rajyotsava. The principal, staff and students participated in the event.
