The college Netball team won the VTU Rest of Bangalore Zone Tournament and also secured III place in VTU State Level Tournament. The Handball team won II place in VTU Mangalore Zone Tournament. Mr. Subhas of II-year ECE received the Best Shooter Award in Netball Tournament.

The college Annual Day was celebrated on 25th March 2023. The Chief Guest Mr. Girish Nandan, Assistant Commissioner, Puttur, DK felicitated the meritorious students; Rakshitha M.B, VTU V rank holder; faculty Ph.D. awardees and Physical Director Nithin Poojary, Ekalavya awardee.   Dr. Satheeshchandra S, Secretary, SDME Society presided over the programme.The celebrations were followed by grand cultural programmes.

The staff and students paid tribute to the Nation’s greatest engineer Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya on 15th September 2022 and celebrated Engineers’ Day. A team of faculty members visited two Govt. High Schools at Ujire and demonstrated science models and experiments to the children to kindle interest in science and technology.

Padma Vibhshana Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, the President of SDM Educational Society has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted the information and expressed confidence in Dr. DV Heggade's contributions. The SDM fraternity congratulates our beloved President for this milestone. 

The college NSS Unit organized a Life Skills Training program for students on 28/3/2022. Ms. Parvin U. T, Yuvaparivartaki and Life Skills trainer from NIMHANS conducted the training. The training focused on developing self-awareness, creativity and emotional leverage. About 40 students attended the training.

Dr. V.S Hegde, Emeritus Professor (Geology), SDM College of Engg. & Technology, Dharwad, spoke on Planning and Writing Research Proposals for Grants on 17th March 2022. Head of the depts. and senior faculty members attended the session and interacted with the resource person. 

The Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Cell (IEDC) along with ISTE Chapter of SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire, conducted a One-day Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme for the II-year students on 23.2.2022. Conducted a 10-day hands-on training on Data Structures using Python Programming from 15th Nov to 7th Dec 2021 by Ms.  Shobha and Ms.  Shwetha S.V, Asst. Professors.

Ms. Sanjana T S studying in 7th semester Computer Science and Engineering has scored 309/340 in the GRE exam and 109/120 in the TOEFL exam. We wish her all the best.

A 3-Day Faculty Empowerment Programme on Embedded Systems, IoT and Robotics Applications organized by ECE from 18th to 20th November 2021. Mr. Krishna Chaithanya, Embedded Systems Engineer, EdGate Technologies Pvt Ltd., trained the faculty members.
