International Women’s Day at SDMIT
On account of International Women’s Day (8/3/2021), SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire organized a talk on ‘Women in Leadership’ by Mrs. Manorama Bhat, Consultant, Community Wealth Building (CWB), Tokyo. Dr. Ashok Kumar, Principal, presided over the programme. Dr. Rajatha, Librarian coordinated the program.
National Mathematics Day
National Mathematics Day was observed at SDMIT, Ujire on 22nd December, 2020 and paid tribute to the mathematical genius Srinivasa Ramanujan on his birth anniversary. A quiz and a webinar was organised by the department of Mathematics, and Dr Vidya K, HoD narrated Ramanujan’s life, struggles and his contributions to mathematics.
Industry interaction
Mr. Niranjan, Vice-President & Head Technology, L&T Construction, interacted with the students of Mechanical and Civil Engg. branch on 3/3/2020, and gave tips on ‘Industry Readiness and Job Opportunities’.
Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp
Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp was organized for 6th-semester students of the EEE and ECE department from 27th Feb. 2020 to 29th Feb. 2020. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Sundara Sherigar, Assistant Director, MSME, Govt. of India, Mangalore. Entrepreneurship is a necessary skill for the 21st century and SDMIT is training students in this direction.

Guest talk on the paradigms of teaching
Dr. Gopal Mugeraya, Director, NIT Goa, during his visit to SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire, on 18th Dec. said ‘Teaching is a profession that creates all other professions. Only those teachers who dedicate themselves to teaching profession would succeed and contribute immensely in developing a healthy and peaceful society’. He interacted with the faculty members and expressed happiness over the progress made by the institute.
Experia 2k19 – Science fair to remember!
A 2-day Intercollegiate Science Fair called Experia-2k19 was conducted at SDMIT on 30th Nov and 1st Dec. for PU students. Various competitions like Science Quiz, Skill on C, Hackathon (Solution to minimise Human and Wildlife Conflict), Maths Puzzles, Model Competition, etc. were held. The Chief Guest, Prof. N.S. Guest talk on Challenges of Landing on Moon and Mars
The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering had organized an informative session on Challenges of landing on Moon and Mars’. Shri. P. J. Bhat, Distinguished scientist (retired) ISRO/ISAC, was the Resource person of the event. He Spoke about various Rover Landing Mechanisms and missions. He also discussed about the various phases involved in the missions of Chandrayaan and Mangalyaan.
