The institute signed an MoU with Medini Technologies Bangalore on 8 Nov 2022. The purpose is to connect Industry and Academia by training and conducting seminars and workshops for the students of Civil Engineering on the latest industrial software through industry experts. 

The institute organised Koti Kanta Gayana - Nanna Naadu Nanna Haadu program on 28th October 2022 on account of 67th Kannada Rajyotsava. The principal, staff and students participated in the event.

The institute organised an Entrepreneurship Bootcamp, sponsored by IAMAI MOBILE 10X, on 18th and 19th October 2022. Mr. Anoop, Manager, IAMAI and Mr. Vishnu Nagaraj, Founder CEO, Evangelist-carve Bangalore conducted the programme. Around 150 students from SDMIT, SDM Degree college, VCET Puttur and SMVIT Bantakal participated in the event. 

The staff and students paid tribute to the Nation’s greatest engineer Bharat Ratna Sir M. Visvesvaraya on 15th September 2022 and celebrated Engineers’ Day. A team of faculty members visited two Govt. High Schools at Ujire and demonstrated science models and experiments to the children to kindle interest in science and technology.

On 18th July 2022, the college bid a fond farewell to the students of the outgoing batch of 2022. Dr. Shreekrishna Kumar, Regional Director, School of Technology, Mahatma Gandhi University and Dr. Satheeshchandra S, Secretary, SDME Society, distributed Mementos, Course Completion Certificates and Prizes to the winners of Annual Cultural Events. Padma Vibhshana Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, the President of SDM Educational Society has been nominated to the Rajya Sabha. Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted the information and expressed confidence in Dr. DV Heggade's contributions. The SDM fraternity congratulates our beloved President for this milestone. 

The college NSS Unit organized a Life Skills Training program for students on 28/3/2022. Ms. Parvin U. T, Yuvaparivartaki and Life Skills trainer from NIMHANS conducted the training. The training focused on developing self-awareness, creativity and emotional leverage. About 40 students attended the training.

Dr. V.S Hegde, Emeritus Professor (Geology), SDM College of Engg. & Technology, Dharwad, spoke on Planning and Writing Research Proposals for Grants on 17th March 2022. Head of the depts. and senior faculty members attended the session and interacted with the resource person.
